I have had my 09 nightster for about 2 months and I have dont V&H shortshots (black) and I am wanting to make my bike as sleek and black as possible, I really like the drag bar look I just need to know what Size and type of bar to get.. I dont want the "broomstick" style I want the drag bars that tilt in a little, I do not want to have to purchase risers or a new clamp i want to use the factory clamp, what size would I need and what is the most popular length for the bars that you guys are using.
Mine are 32" with the stock riser, if you use 27" your controlls will hit the tank.
I moved my signals down to the forks at the same time and hung the mirrors upside down below the bars for a nice clean look and good rear visibility, it's very comfortable for me.
Make sure you get dimpled bars for ease of installation (or drilled if you want to wire internally but that is a much bigger job cutting and splicing wires). Might as well get new grips while your at it too.
There are various pics of mine in my garage or in the link in my sig.
27'' bars work great and looks tighter. i might even trim mine a lil more this winter. they dont hit the tank on stock risers.
I stand corrected, I was sure there was someone on here who got the 27" and they did hit his peanut tank with the stock riser, mine are only about 1/8 of an inch from the tank at full lock so if they were slid in any further they would hit, may be a different stock riser between the N & R? or maybe your tank lift makes a difference?
OK awesome guys, I am looking on ebay and some other random sites and what i need is i guess a 32in drag bar that is dimpled and kurled i guess, can you guys help me out and find a link to a site that has them? i want a black one, all the ones i am finding are non dimpled or dont say that they are "kurled" thanks guys, ill buy it as soon as i find it.
