Default Screaming Eagle Ignition Module review.

I have the whole stage 1 kit - SE high flow a/c, carb rejet, and SEII slip ons. And recently added forward controls w/ 2" extensions to my 2006 sportster 1200 Low. I just bought the Vance and Hines Short Shots Staggard and the Screamin' Eagle Ignition Module. Had both installed, and with that Ignition Module it makes A HELL OF A DIFFERENCE!!!!! If anybody thinks the 1200's are good on power but don't have quite enough, get the module! Best purchase so far! I will be getting it dyno'd in a few weeks, just to see what my numbers are at.

I'm still learning so take it easy on me, but our bikes have ignition modules and not distributors? I always figured that having a carb meant having a distributor and having fuel injection meant having an ingition module.

Controls spark/ignition - allows to rev to 7,000 RPM. At wide open throttle, it retards timing by 5* allowing it to rev up higher.

only thing i dont like is if you get it for your 883 you need to get a diff one for your 1200. Or they sell two diff. ones at least.

Wouldn't you have to change your plugs to the platnium tip ones with this mod to get the most out of it? I would also imagine pulling the extra 1000 RPM's on the engine will be harder on it. I'm sure life expectancy would drop dramtically if that was constantly done. As a matter of fact, I would guess pulling 6000 all the time would drop life expectancy as well.

6000 RPM isnt alot. The Jap v-twin bikes run at a much higher rpm without any trouble. The problem is somewhere beyond 6000rpm, you run the risk of "floating a valve". This is when a valve actualy hits the top of the piston because the piston is moving faster than the valve spring can react, pulling the valve out of the way. The answer is a stronger valve spring so they move quicker. I dont know at what rpm this can happen, but if the ignition module or the mechanic didnt mention different springs then I am sure you are fine. 7000 isnt alot.

Yeah, I have ordered the Screamin' Eagle Platinum tipped plugs along with new wires. But 7,000 isn't too bad at all.

You're wasting your $$$ on those SE Plugs.....The HD Gold ones are much better after the mods.
