I'm thinking about getting the pull back bars for my custom, but I'm not sure if I really need the extra stuff that the Harley site is telling me. This is what it says:
---
56021-04B
Fits '04-later XL883C and XL1200C models. Installation requires seperate purchase of Braided Stainless Steel Clutch Cable Kit P/N 38732-04, Braided Stainless Steel Brake Line P/N 45113-03, and Braided Stainless Steel Throttle and Idle Cable P/N 56340-04.
---
Are they saying that because I will have trouble getting the stock cables to reach, some other reason, or are they crazy?
You will need that stuff. Did HC's and you do have to go with the cabling, the eletrical is fine. We tried, believe me we tried to get the new bars on without the new cables.....ain't happening. Maybe consider going even a couple of more inches over what they call for.........Now HC wants my old 10 inch apes on her bike and we will have to get new cables and eletric as well. Go over alittle more just for any future possibilities I went 8 over on my WG with the 16's on, just incase I want to put 3 inch risers on later.

Thanks.
i installed the h-d pullback bars on my wifes 04 883c and the only thing i changed was the brake line.the stock one looked a little tight
I'd recommend the steal cables and brake hoses over the stock ones anyday. The look a lot better and they provide some functional benefits. My brake feel is a lot harder which I believe makes the bike stop a little quicker. The throttle and clutch cables are also smoother. It's not cheap but in the long run I think you will like it better.
You'll need longer cables like HDWG said but you don't have to buy the braided stainless steel. You can get regular cables and save a couple hundred bucks. You'll probably need to go +4 to give you some play room but to suggest that you have to have the stainless is their way of raping you for money.
