Yep, that's exactly the best way to do this. When changing the tranny fluid is a good time to check the primary chain tension anyway.

If you get Mobil 1 gear oil, it is synthetic.

So I dropped the bike off at the dealer on Friday, they are scheduled to look at it on Tuesday however will reach out to me if they get to it earlier. The suspense is building up- they were in awe the thing still rides. I'll post and let you all know the damage when I get word.

Dealer got back to me- primary chain is shot and the clutch is shot. They ran a magnet through the tranny and said suprisingly it's all good. $648 lesson.

ouch sorry to hear it. Least you know now instead of on the side of the road or worse yet in heavy traffic and have it cause something worse to happen.
