Default fork extensions

I am 6ft and 200 lbs. I want to put on 6-8 inch fork extension on my 2007 Sportser I intend to buy. Which sportster would suit my frame ( custom, low or roadster). Has anyone put them on theirs, hows the ride --- I had them on my 73 Sportster. I would also like to change the handle bars.

You are the same size as me. You will NOT want the low, it will be...well... too low for you. I have a bike that has the mid-mounted controls and I am comfortable with them, but I have pegs where the forward controls would be and I like to use them. If you want fork extensions you will most likely want the forward controls that the custom has, it will be more comfortable fo you, and will look cooler with extended forks.

I'm right at 6'2", 190 pounds, and find the 1200C to be a good fit.

I'd though about extending the front highway pegs out a couple inches, so they would feel a little more natural (like the front pegs on my Dyna FXDWG), but I've come to like them in the stock location.

On longer rides I can just extend my legs and lay my heels over the top of them. Very comfortable.

Old fender guy did something similar. He put extended forks on and it looks sweeet. He will probably be around at some time to give you all the info you need. Somewhere he described it before but I can't locate the thread that it was in. I have a custom and love it. I am 5'10" and the forward controls could almost be more forward for me. I find myself resting my ankles on the controls if I go any distance. But is very comfortable around town. Holy Crap, nevermind where did he come from. Snuck in on me. Up above is the man to talk to. Later.

LoL, as I see that you do the same "ankle rest" thing with the forward control pegs....

I find that is stock forward controls are a perfect distance for resting my feet/ankles over the top of them, and it's still not uncomfortable using the pegs in the normal, intended way.

Thanks a lot guys --- your info is much apprec. I was wondering if the low would be toooo low, and its sounds like it is. I think I will stick to the custom with the forward controls. Any ideas about changing the handle bars. What length of extensions would fit my height on the custom.

if i were you, i wouldn't plan on changing anything until you actually get the bike. i just got mine about 1 1/2 months ago, a 1200C. i thought i would be changing the handlebars first thing, but changed my mind as soon as i rode it. since i've had this bike, i've put on over 2700 miles and my arms and shoulders have not gotten sore once. i even rode to sturgis last week(about 1000 miles round trip) and the only thing that got uncomfortable was the seat after about 300 miles. i'm 5' 11" so it shouldn't be that much different for you
