Misfire

Ok...I have a '06 1200C and it was running fine when I shut it off the other day, but now it has a misfire and won't stay running unless you give it a ton of throttle. I changed the plugs and that didn't help. Both pipes are hot so they are both seem to be firing. I figured I would come on here and ask before I spent any money chasing the problem. Thanks in advance!

The crank position sensor has probably failed.

I wouldn't go there first, unless your getting a P0373 or P0374 code. If you don't know how to check the codes, there is a DIY Sticky at the top of this section.

The first things I'd look for are a vacuum leak around the intake manifold, or a dirty (plugged) idle/low speed jet/circuit in the carb.

Thanks for the responses...It doesn't throw any codes, so I guess it's probably carb or intake...I'm useless with either so I guess I'll have to take it somewhere. Thanks though!

Just for the hell of it toss a can of Sea Foam fuel treatment into the tank and try to run it for a few mintues to get the gas with the additive to the carb. Shut down and try in a couple hours or overnite. Could have just got a bad tank of gas . Happens ...WVleo

Im by no means a mechanic, but I did have a similar problem recently. Turned out it was a loose negative cable on the battery...Its worth a look before getting into anything major.

Located at the back of the primary, beside the starter is a ground connection. This is the ground for all of the electronic. Make sure the connection is clean and tight.
