IMO apes are the way to go. You can roll them back and with forward controls have a reclining/relaxed position or you can push them forward and with mid controls still have a sporty feeling all stretched out. Check my album for pics of mine with HD's mini apes.

Drags with tall risers wouldn't be a bad set up. I had drags with short risers and it looked cool and was fun blasting stop light to stop light, but the majority of the rides I do are long hauls and they were no good for that.

I've had the apes for about 5,000 miles now and they are awesome. They let me have a much more comfortable/laid back ride that is perfect for long saddle times. I just did 650 miles on Monday with them, and I never had any pain in my neck, arms, or back. I used to get very bad pain in my neck being stretched out with the drag bars.

But I do think drag bars usually look "cooler" than apes.

Apes all the way. I put 2" longer risers on my mini apes and love it. Had drag bars on my other bike and would get pain between my shoulders after a long ride.

I went with drags with no risers. I love the look and the ride, also wanted apes but got the drags for super cheap off ebay from a link someone else posted on this forum that they had bought. They were about $30 and didn't need longer cables like you will also need to buy with apes.

I went with HD drag bars and 3.5" black risers on my Iron. Pics attached.

I've always preferred drag bars to so called apes especially if you like to lean into corners alot .
