Default oops..

Alright, so I did my homework on here and got a pretty good idea on how to change out my handlebars myself. I did the cardboard trick and all. Everything went fine, got the new ones on and fitted and I did a test to make sure all my controls and everything still worked. At that point everything was still working fine. After I tightened everything down however I found that my electric start switch doesnt work and the bike wont turn on. Also my blinkers no longer work. Pretty much everything on the right side of the controls no longer work. Except for the front brake. It's still working fine. Any ideas on what I messed up on or how I fix it?

Check to make sure you didn't cut off/pinch off the wires somewhere. If you were tugging on the wires enough, you could have damaged them or disconnected it.

good luck.

please keep us posted I am about to do this mod too and am curious what happened, I would take everything apart and try to put it back together and see if it worked, if that didnt work i would start tearing into things to find the problem.

I checked the lines leading up to the controls and they all looked fine. The only thing I noticed was the rubber around the wires inside the controls was cut and wire was exposed. The actual wires were not cut though. Could I have shorted something out in any way? I returned everything back to stock and no luck. Thanks for the help by the way.

I know this a stupid question but I'm new at all of this and I'm just testing the waters as I go. Where do I find the fuse box?

Fuses will be under the left side cover next to the battery.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the help. Once I identify the problem I will leave up a thread of every step I took and how to troubleshoot any problem that came up during the process. Hopefully it'll help you avoid the same mistake I made.

I think you are on the right track, Sounds like you pinched the wires and shorted it out and blew the fuse,..... after replacing the fuse, be sure to make sure the wires are not cut and able to short out against one another.
