Posted in She's chokin' Out but now have the DTC's so hopefully someone can help me here. The codes were P0118, P0505, and pn3214-07. I have no idea what I'm looking at here so any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanx.
(Quick recap from earlier post, she's idling rough, hard time starting. Have to twist throttle wide open to turn engine over. 07 883L. Have to keep throttle twisted at stops to keep her running.)
What if any kind of work have you done on the bike recently? This would be the first place to go back and double check everything you touched. If you removed the cyl head temp sensor, I've heard that it will break if you don't have the special tool for R&R.
I would also suggest sticking with just one thread instead of making multiple threads for the same problem, just keeps things a little neater.

I hate to tell someone to spend money, but buy the service manuals. One is mechanical and there is one for the electrical. Get both and the breakout box the the dealer sells. It really helped me out. They wanted to charge me $300 to change out a Crank Position Sensor. So I bought the manuals and found out it was a bad Vehicle Speed Sensor. Grand total $200 and now I have the manuals and the bike runs great.

Last month, I had the rocker box gaskets changed due to some seeping. Had all three on both boxes replaced. Would this have something to do with this?

Did you get a chance to ride it after that work was done?
That work would have required the Engine Temp sensor to be R&R'd, that may well be what the problem is according to what your DTCs turned up.
Although I would also suspect a problem with the IAC as well, but one thing at a time.
The Eng temp sensor is located in the top of the rear cyl head, I would take a look and see if you can tell if it is broken or the connector is not connected.
