Default Which slip on

Hello again.
I know I posted about locating my exhaust under the frame. After talking with my fabricator and seeing some sketches I decided to just get slipons and save some $$$. Now I am faced with the question of which manufacturer of slip-on mufflers should I get? I see cycle shack slip-on's on e-bay for around 149.99, then heard from a guy at work that they blue awfully quick and I shouldn't put "2.00 parts on a 10k bike"... Another person suggested I look at python slip-ons. I did notice python has a removable silencer, do the cycle shack slip-on's incorporate a removable silencer as well or are they one piece? Any help, sound bite's, images, suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks,
-Shaun

Cycle Shack slip-ons are basically 1 piece with a baffle that could be drilled out (not recommended). I take issue with 2 things:

1. They are $121.75 delivered to your door from Jireh's - don't buy them fom eBay at $149.99
2. In all the miles I put on mine there was not one spot of bluing

I no longer run the Cycle Shacks simply because at 50 MPH, where I seem to do most of my country riding for hours on end, the harmonic pitch is too annoying to me. I went back to my SE II's that I find are deeper in tone and don't have that annoying harmonic (annoying to ME) at my chosen cruising speed.

My brother has the Cycle Shack on a Dyna. He and others don't like them - they are higher pitched, not really Harley like compared to my V&H pipes. Cycle Shack is like a high pitched potato-potato. V&H lower. He's gonna replace the Cycle Shacks at first chance.

I couldn't be happier with my V&H slipons, very nice deep sound, louder than SEII's but not too loud. The diameter is smaller than the SEII's and I believe the CS's so they have the appearence of a full set of pipes. I got mine from M&M cycles for $220 shipped to the door.

I have SEII. I think they sound great. I am sure they are getting harder and harder to find but they are a perfect mix of sound and performance. The small opening in the baffle is just enough to let the open pipe sound out so you get a nice deep rumble.

Check out Rush brand slip ons. I put a set on my Deluxe and everyone seems to really like them. I like them so much I ordered a set for my wife's new 1200 low.

I'll throw a vote out for V&H slip-ons as well. I really like the sound of mine. I ran them for a couple weeks with the stock baffles, then switched to the quiet baffles and they sounded pretty good both ways, though definately louder without the quiet baffles.

I ran SEII for a long time and switched to v&h slip-on and I have to say that there great the sound WOW. I dynoed before and after and only gained 2 hp and 2 torque. So if you are looking for power that you can feel you will not get it but the sound is awesome for the price.
