I have a 2008 Sportster 1200 Custom. Had the battery out of the bike for the winter and is fully charged. Went to install battery today and nothing is turning on. Not getting lights or anything at all. Checked all connections about 100 times and can't figure it out. Replaced fuses I thought were bad and still nothing. Am I missing something? Could something else be bad causing the bike to have no power at all? Please help!!
Why does this "don't jump with your car" thing keep coming up?
Who is it that says jump starting a 12 volt system with a 12 volt system is going to do damage? The only damage that can be done is if you already have a problem that adding more power to will continue the damage. The same damage would be done with a fully charged motorcycle battery.
OP, I would remove the battery again, have it load tested and triple check your ground connections. If you have a VOM, make sure you have a great connection (0 ohms) between the negative terminal and grounds at a few places along the frame. That short little ground wire causes more problems than you could imagine.
I would also suspect your ignition switch if all is good there and no blown fuses.
