ok i switched bars, followed the service manual. brake lights are stuck on, check the button in the front master cylinder and it retracts back fine and isnt stuck. i have no idea what the issue is.
prob is the small plunger on the hand control. check and see if it is applying enough pressure from the brake or if it has been damaged. i broke off the end of mine when i switched bars and had to rig it to work. good luck
i checked the lever that has the rubber boot where the hand control hits and it seems to be fine. that is the only thing i could think of too but no luck.
had the same problem on my softail
after checking everything I finally found the wire for the brake light from the switch under the gas tank and cut it now i have no brakelight with the hand brake but oh well and I filled the hole melted on the lense with a blue dot.
From the factory, there should have been a "button" on the end of that rubber cover on the switch. It is easy to break off if you don't know it is there (personal experience). Call the Stealer they are about $65.00 dollars and are very common replacements
