Default Help

Hey guys i have been looking into changing my own oils. But i am kinda confused. B/c i know where the oil drians and goes. But its the primary case oil and trans oil that i am confused about. People keep refering to 2 different oils for the trans and primary. But where is the trans drain located and primary. Or are they the same thing. I have a 2002 1200 custom. Hope i was clear enough. I haave the service manual and it says primary/transmission oil.

Only two holes on a Sportster. Primary and Trans are the the same. Drain plug below the primary cover.

+1....Just make sure you don't turn the Primary chain adjustment nut. You can tell which one it is cause it has a stud in the center of it and the nut is to lock it tight.

You just need to remove the small inspection cover and refill with 1 quart of oil. They are probably referring to checking and adjusting the primary chain tension while you have that small inspection cover off.

Harley makes "Formula +" made for primaries and transmissions. Available at your friendly neighborhood dealer.
