Up until the last month, my 2006 1200 Roadster would idle at a steady 1000-1100 rpm after warmup. Recently, however, when I come to a stop, the idle either stays around 1400 rpm or will drop to the previous 1100 rpm and slowly rise to about 1400 rpm and then slowly drop back to 1100 rpm. It may do this 2-3 times at a traffic light. My hand is off the throttle and I have deliberately made sure the throttle is closed.
With the colder weather you probably just need to re-adjust your idle back to the 1000rpm spec.
When it gets quite a bit higher, the pilot circuit is not built to intake enough fuel for that speed with the throttle plate and choke closed, so it ends causing the idle to hop around. It would be similar to having a poorly tuned carb.
