I have a couple of questions about a sportster. I'm 6' tall with fairly long legs and was wondering if a sportster would be too small for me. I sat on one and it seemed to be about right.
Also, is $8,900 a good price for a new iron 883 with an alarm?
I've never owned a motorcycle, so sorry if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking bout
Well there are alot of guys on here that are alot taller than you, but I would make sure you get one with forward controls. I'm 5'8" and have to have forwards. Also I cannot tell you if $8900 is a good price as you did not list the year, modle and spec's of the 883. it does seem high to me no matter what as the New 883 Super low starts are $7999.
more importantly...if you've never owned an m/c have you ever ridden one. before you buy anything i would take the msf course, it'll open your eyes to some things you may not have considered up until now. then look for a bike......btw 6ft. tall is no way to big for a sporty.
Im only 5'8" and was surprised how big I look on my bike (see sig pic). With the right pegs, seat and bars Im sure you can make it fit any sized person.
5'11" here, with long legs. Do not go to forward controls until you find out if it feels right with the mids. With the mids and highway pegs, you have the best of both worlds; and imho more control in the twistys. I have ridden a bike with the forwards and feel ya give up some control, I did not like 'em. Take an msf course first, tho, to make sure ya know what yer doin'. Oh, and welcome aboard.

Agree with all of the above! MSF is a great way to see if this is really for you before you buy a bike. And I'm 6'2" and 215, love my Sporty and ride it all over hell!
