For those of you concerned with the security of your QD windshield, Harley sells a locking clamp for it. I'm a tad paranoid when it comes to things easily pilfered LOL.
Windshield is the only way to travel. Make sure you can see over it and not through it. In certain conditions they will fog up to the point of not having any visibility. The wind will still go up over the shield much like a bed roll tied to the bars without hitting you in the face.
i like the feel of the wind hitting my chest and face. to me its part of the thrill of the ride. I had a windshield on a different bike and ditched it the day i bought it.
Well, I took the plunge and boutght a windshield....I got the HD Quick Release Super Sport windshield...So far, I really like it and Im gonna end up getting the locking clamps for it too....good height, good looks, and I think Im gonna tint mine a little darker than it is as well.
Keep doing research on the windshields. I have a 2011 Custom and recently bought an HD Quick detach 18" windshield (part #57801-11) and the buffeting is horrible. So much that it blurs my vision when riding over 55 mph. I'm 5'11" and I know the bike are slightly different, but I recommend you to research your different options on the windshields.

ClearView Shield - NO Buffeting - NO Wind in Face - NO Blurred vision (okay, I am looking over the windshield). It has a recurve that takes the wind up and over your head.
You can install the HD QR hardware on the windshield! Problem Solved!

I discovered the hard way today that too short is worse than none at all. I bought a used 14" thinking it would be perfect, apparently I sit higher than I thought. It's at chin level, all the air and rain got deflected up and right into my head. Time to see if I can trade it in for an 18".

I got the 18" HD QR shield for my 2012 Custom Sporty. I am 5' 6", and get buffeting above 55 mph. I can move it a little on the forks. Will see if that does any good. Next step is to see if I can change the angle by adding some shims.
Anyone know if you can tint the inside of the windshield similar to the way a car window is tinted?? I want mine a little darker than what it is right now.
