So I'm wanting to put a tach on my 2007 nightster. I don't have any kind of mods that would effect it in any way but I've never seen it done. My question is has anybody used one of the digital styled gauges out there that shows both speed and rpm? Did youol lose any of the dummy lights? Did it fit in the factory speedo location? Has anybody tried using a manual style tach? Something that's not big and gaudy? Thanks for input guys and gals.
I think it's a smart move to get the dakota unit, I installed a Harley shift gauge a few months ago and it's as great little gadget but lately I've had a few problems with the speedo so I dont know if it's related to the shift gauge or not but if the speedo goes out I'll defintly end up get the dakota digital to replace it. I love the idea of the gear indicator, goes around turns sometimes is just a pain having to count gears when you downshift and I always forget to anyway, would be so much easier to just keep shifting until you see a 2 instead of counting.

Us Marylanders have a hard time counting anyway. I was going to get the same Harley guage you were just talking about, I think I'll hold off now.

I just saw a that last night, it's a he'll of alot cheaper but I'm not great with wiring. Looking at the install it looked, I won't say difficult, but complicated.
I just won the harley tach kit 67182-07 on ebay for $140 including shipping. had to order a different handle bar clamp at $30 so i'm in it for $170. I really liked the Dakota's but just didn't have the extra cash.
