I paid $11,500 with two year extended warranty for an 07 1200xl custom.
My brother got an 06 883 with two year extended warranty for $9500.
Sound like you over paid, but I know the warranty is a good move. Did they talk you into GAP insurance?
I think the price you paid is a bit steep...I picked up my bike with 1100 miles (2005 Sportster Custom) and the balance of the factory warranty for $7300 + title, tax, etc. I know my bike is used, but the price you paid seems high - service warranty or not. I picked up an electronic (PDF)copy of the service manual for $10 off eBay. I'll do my own work as needed.
Sorry guys! I was looking at all your responses. Here's the break down..
Base: 10,194.
Freight: 697.
Prep: 588.
Tax: 717.
36,000 maintance: 1799.
Tire warranty: 249.
Inventory tax: 27.
Doc fee: 50.
total: 14,403.
Down payment: 1,300.
Balance due: 13,103.00
I gave this one time in case your figures were wrong. That being said if you think you got screwed @$14,403, I hope you paid cash because if you took out a loan you'll gonna have about an $18,000 883.
BTW who was the dealer?
I don't know how your Sportster handles but pal the dealer took you for the ride of your life!!
I almost bought an 06 Softail Standard back in July for $13,650, that was the total, except for sales tax. That was also an incredible deal. My banker had a different idea of what I was going to do with that money. She didn't think I needed 2 motorcycles...what a bitch!!
I paid $7600 for my 1200R. It was used, had about 500 miles on it and it was a year old. The new ones with destination fee are about $9,200. I thought my deal was fair. $13,000K for a 883sportster sounds odd.You might want to check on a used one next time. There is always someone that needs to sell a motorcycle for various reasons. Many are almost brand new.
I was wrong. I found my title when I was going through my safe last night. I paid $7061 for my 06 883c - Pearl Black, brand new, in Feb of 06. Plus, I got an additional $1000k of in-store credit. So, I could've bought two bikes for that amount. If it makes you feel better, I also found the Bill of Sale for my 01 883c, and I did pay $8200 for that. I learned to shop the different dealers, I'm sure you have too now.
I have a hard time feeling sorry for you. Did you not at least go on line and find out what msrp was. It sucks that their are dealers out their that will rip someone off like this, but there has to bone heads out their just waiting to get ripped off, or they would not be doing it any more.
