key shaped light?

key shaped light?
wondering if someone can tell me what it means when the little key shaped light stays on all the time. i know its supposed to be like a "wait to start" thing and that function still works but after i start the bike the light comes back on and stays on. the bike is an 09 iron without alarm by the way. thanks

The key light comes on if there is a problem with the alarm module or the TSM. Since you said you do not have the HD alarm, you most likely have a problem with your directional lights or the TSM (Turn Signal Module). Make sure your turn signal bulbs are good and functioning.

There are two sections in the manual. One says if it stays on all the time you should take it to your deal immediately. And the other one say that if it stays on all the time you may need to replace your speedometer. It seems all the others would also have the "check engine" light on too. There are a couple of others that list the light coming on and going off as normal and then coming on again for a short period of time. And another one that the light would do as normal and then after like 20 seconds come on and stay on but both of those would happen by just turning on the key and not just after you start the bike, but then again that would also involve the "check engine" tool. He did not mention about any other light on. Know anyone with a spare Sportster speedometer you can borrow to try a swap out to see if that clears it up? Make sure you keep us informed as to what the problem actually was and what fixed it.

i pulled the codes yesterday and found a couple codes, one is in fact a blinker and the other is something to do with the rear o2 sensor. im thinking the o2 is something to do with the wiring since i only have like 5000 or so miles on it. thanks for the help!
