Buying first motorcycle, is this a reasonable price?
Hi all. I'm in the navy and Local HD dealer has a 2009 sportster 1200 custom for $7900, 10,000 miles, screaming eagle exhaust, sissy bar, upgraded shocks, upgraded seat. It's a gorgeous bike and the wife has given me the ok to pull the trigger for my first bike. Been looking a few months now at the forum and ready to buy after completing my safety course. I'm 6'2" 210 and the bike feels great. Any info would be appreciated
Try looking in the Craigslist ads and that will give you an idea of what Sportsters run in your area. Buying from a dealer is generally higher than a private sale. Good luck.
Welcome the the boards fellow Vet (Army 20yrs). The prices seems high, at least for our area. My wife found an 07 for $3900. Deals are out there. Good luck.
Thanks for the quick replies. I have looked on Craigslist and eBay. One thing I like about the dealer option if there is something wrong with it in the near future I know who to come back to. Private seller less convenient so value that. I will be transferring to Japan in 9 months so after I do my tour over there I may opt to sell to Japanese local. Wife is Japanese and checked used prices over there and about $2000 more used over there than here. May be able to ride it for a couple yes learning and then break even to get something a bit bigger. Thanks again.
What's up to a brother in arms (7.5 years army). I just bought my '13 72 for 11.5 with a bunch new accessories. For that price it seems kinda high. I agree with them. Craigslist
Try offering $6500 in cash. See what happens. Be willing to walk.
+1
If you want to sell it abroad make sure it is legal there. I happen to know EU will not let you register a US spec bike if same model is available in Euro spec, for instance.
