A few questions. Will you be riding 2-up frequently? Will you be touring a lot with saddlebags and loading the bike down?

I've spoken with Progressive on a couple of occasions asking about the 412's. While I'm 222# and you being 230# we're just on the right side of using the HD shocks. If you're going to ride mostly solo and locally; and set the preload to the highest setting you should be able use the standard springs. I've read and have been told the HD shocks can ride a bit harsher than the standards. They also offer the springs separately as an option.

If you're going to tour or ride 2-up then the HD is probably the best bet.

Also, if the 12.5" increases the ride height too much for you, getting shocks 0.5" longer than stock will give you more travel and improve the ride without affecting the look or ride height too much. Also, if you get shocks 1" longer, you can add lowering blocks to compensate without affecting the ride quality.

You have several options.

Wink

Buy from a shop that will ensure you have the correct weight springs and fit etc, for you and your riding style (passenger?), don't buy any shocks in a box off a shelf!

Clue: read #6.....

I have 13" 416s. Very happy with them. I am 200 lbs. and my wife is 110lbs. I went with STD weight springs per Progressive's recomendation.

They ride very well. I have about 4k on them in 4 months. Just over half of that is with the wife on the back.
