I just got an 04 Sportster XLC and want to move the controls forward about 2inches. I have looked at some of the aftermarket websites and it is confusing as heck. The photos they post for stock and for 2" forward look the same and they do not exactly show you how they hookup, or are installed. Not like the ol'e days when we use to just make our own stuff. I have not worked on a bike since 81.
When I asked the Harley dealer they said 04 Sporty and up are forward, 03 and back were mid controls. And they do not sell 2+" extension forward controls.
Anyone move their controls forward on a 04 and up? Any recommendations about a well made, not $800 set?
Any recommendations about parts sites? I Have looked at a few of them and Cruiser Customizing is one of my choices.
Yepper. J& P is the place to go. I have an 06 883 and moved the controls from mid to forward. I think they were priced btwn $350 and $450 for the set. Not too difficult to install either. You will like them.
a guy on here called TxBandit sells em...well he did ...not sure if he has any left...i got a set buthavent installed them yet....i think he told me they extend them right in front of my exhaust(05)...so itl be like 3.5 inches or so i think.....i am excited...im 6'4 so i need me some room!....ryan
If you want them to look factory, we can help you there.
If you find yourself needing to stretch your legs a bit more, we can extend your forwards. Have been experimenting with adapting mids to forwards but pretty much need the bike to make that modification.
