i have read a few posts regarding installing the HD drag bars on a 48. As I understand it, the forks must be lowered 1/8" or so to allow the bars to seat properly in the bar clamp. I am somewhat mechanically inclined but was hoping for a description of this task.
Would it be getting the front end off the ground, loosen the 4 pinch bolts, and tap the forks down a bit? Also, any other tips on any other procedures assocaited with the install are greatly appreciated.
Anybody have photos of this procedure or moving the signal lights?
moving the signal lights is very easy just un bolt them shave down the little block on the lights and move them down. make sure you bring the washer and bolts down with them.
I'm picking my HD drag bars up this weekend - I'm going to try and fit them using the same cables, hoses etc - although my dealer said I would need new throttle cables, brake hoses and clutch cable!!
I'm in the UK but that lot cost over $200 (not including bars) here so I'd be interested what you guys have been told by your dealers and what they charge for that lot?
I read another thread on here about these bars and the guy fitted them without buying new cables, hoses etc so I'm gonna try it
Hey all drag bar riders - Lets see some photos of your drag bars
no you do not need to change lines just tuck/ hide them nicely behind your headlight.. at least thats what i read up on here "unless UK is different"... Thats my plan once I buy my drag bars. Lets see some pics...
i have my HD drag bars installed. no issue with stock fork springs and cables. although i changed my fork springs to progressive. below are some pics. hope it helps.

Nice ride blacklander, can I ask how you find the progressive fork springs? Better than stock by a lot or a little? Cheers

No need to buy the cables that is just the dealership trying to make money off of you. Yeah you could make it look better with the shorter cables but I have mine behind the headlight and it looks fine.
