hi guys, im having some big electrical problems with my 2011 iron.
basically, any lights at the back end are dead.
my indicators at the front are dead.
thats the basics problem.
my speedo and speedo light (and possibly my oil pump. really low idle, to the point were it sound like its just about to die) dont work when i first start her up.
but if i turn engine off and start her back up again, the speedo and speedo lights work again.
this is obviously something thats gonna need looking at soon, but my main concern is getting my rear lights back on. i do a lot of riding in the dark, so for safety reasons, i need my rear lights n turn signals back on.
Anytime you can help it if the bike gets wet from washing, or rain, etc... let the bike heat up and get dry take it for a ride if possible to help avoid this. 09-10-11 sportster i believe it is has a problem with the electronics getting wet and causing issues. i have a 09 iron and haven't had a problem yet
well i did have one blown fuse.
so i replaced it, and somewhere in the process of testing if everything was working, my headlamp had stopped working, and the other stuff that wasnt working, still isnt working
ok a quick update with some more info.
i just walked away from my bike and it alarmed itself.
but out the corner of my eye i swear i seen my lights flashing.
i was going to leave it, thinking i was going mad lol. but i went back, turned my bike on. then off n walked away, and the lights did flash to indicate it was alarmed, aswel as the bleep.
so the lights must be getting power to them as they were able to flash.
so why wont they work under any other condition
ok another updat.
so today i thought i would take out all the fuses and relays, and give them all a clean, then replace them.
while i was taking them out i noticed that the one i had replaced had blown again.
so i got a another new one, put it in, started the bike up, and everything was working.
so something had blown the fuse, then i replaced it, it must have blew straight away.
but the next time i replaced it, it was working fine.
strange.
