Default What's the difference between 1200 engines?

Sportster 1200 Custom XL1200C
Seventy Two XL1200V
Forty Eight XL1200X

Are they not the same engine?

Uh, how do you mean? Difference from one 1200 to another? Different from 883? Pretty broad open ended question.

nothing is different. 91-03 solid mount 40-06 rubbermount carbed 07 up is rubbermount fuel injected. All the 1200 rubbermount models engines are the same. but the solid mount 1200s are different.

i mean why are there a 1200c 1200v 1200x? Or are these just some kind of marketing tactic? What's the difference between the C, V, and X?

Just looks, they are the different XL models below.

XL1200C = custom

XL1200V = seventy two

XL1200X = forty eight

C is a Custom
V is a Seventy-Two
X is a Fourty-Eight

The engines are the same.
