i used to have a 2000 yamaha roadstar that would drag its floorboards if you turned a corner at even a slight angle. well it used to scare the bajeesus out of me, so it kind of trained me to go very very slow around corners. how is the turning radius on the sporty? i assume that sticking a footpeg would be a lot more dangerous than dragging a floorboard. i have an '05 1200c with the forward controls if it matters.
I've never scraped anything on my bike.I have mid controls and highway pegs.Never even scraped the pipes. But I don't go aroungcorners at lightning speeds either.I also have had the front and rear lowered. But still no problems
I scraped twice on my Shadow(Factory pipe and opposite peg),I travel some nice curves going to work everyday and have 883C and haven't scrapped yet,you might consider me a spirited driver on occasionbut not a maniac, only because my Sporty feels real nice around those corners, the Shadow was noticably lower also[8D]
I must say the same, scraping scares the blubberfrom my **** as well. Sporty have a average of 30 degree lean radius, my Samson pipes drop it to 24 degree on the right side. Needless to say, they've touched down more than once, especially riding 2-up, Thank God no harm done. Doesn't keep me from pushing and enjoying it the twisties...
I have the Kuryakin pegs with heel rest, used to scrape 'em all the time, they flip up, so it wasn't really a big deal, got the drag marks to prove it but it resulted in this,,,,,
