Found the Killer Motorcycle Products 40mm CV carb upgrade for sportys on eBay. Are they any good? Has anyone used them? They claim improved flow, fixes the backfire through the carb, etc...
They are good, but expensive. Nothing you can't do yourself.
Thanks for the info. Very true, however I don't think I would trust myself porting a carb and blending the bowl. I am looking at the one for $295 that has been rebuilt and had machine work done to it.
I have a 1988 sportster 1200 , my carb was crap , someone really did a number on it , so I bought a killer carb off Ebay , It runs nice , strong , relable !!! it was worth the money to me , and he will buy your old carb if you buy the remaned straight out , even if it doesn't have a fuel enricher on it , they apparently left that off the 88 model !
Dale's a great guy to work with. I first had him do a CV Carb for my EVO and it made a huge improvement. Then had him do one for the Sporty, which again made a huge improvement. I just bought an FXR and once I determine what Cam, Breather & Exhaust I'll go with, I'll send him the CV off that bike as well. He's a good guy to work with as well. Very helpful & great customer service. He is busy with them so turn-around takes a while.
Thnaks for the info guys. The biggest problem I am having with the CV carb is the cough when you try to accelerate from idle...I have re-jetted my carb and it helped but not enough.
Did you guys notice a difference with the Killer carb fixing the fuel cough, and crappy fuel flow?
have you had it adjusted on a dyno? Unless you're making big power, I think the CV is a pretty good carb.
I am not sure if it was done on a dyno. I had a shop do the jet kit and "tune it" I'm not making big power yet, but would like to do a 1250 kit at the end of the summer. Just looking to see if the Killer carb would help my fuel issues and possibly help for my future mods.
