Hi everyone new to Harleys and new to the forum. I had a Ducati Hypermotard and am very lucky I didnt get into trouble so I decided to get rid of her so I dont get into trouble this season. Here is my bike and I already need help lol. I have struts in the rear and want to install the stock shocks but wanted to know if anyone knows the travel on the stock shocks. I dont want to bottom out the fender. I have about a 1/4 inch clearance now on a 10 3/4 inch strut and I believe the stock shocks are 11 inch eye to eye. I think I may have to go with a 11 1/2 inch shock worse case scenario.
First of all that Ducati will ride you out of almost any trouble you could get into. There aren't enough after market add on's to make your Sporty do that. Has the fender been lowered? You may have to raise it to use shocks.

LOL I know it can get me out of situations but it also kept getting me into situations that i had to get out of if you know what I mean. I just didnt want to put myself in those situations anymore.
Yes that fender has been lowered but im wondering how much travel will the stock shock have at its hardest setting. I think at worst case I might rub a little or very worst case I go with a 11-1/2 inch shock and ill have 3/4 inch space. This winter has killed our roads and its too hard on the bike and my ***.
Are you looking at getting stock shocks or aftermarket?
I have the ones I took off from my 48 (I went with Road Glide Custom air shocks). If you are in the CONUS, you are welcome to them...I have no use for them.
If aftermarket, look into some progressive units. Lots of good feedback from the folks here.

What is the eye to eye length on those stock shocks? Im might end up with the progressive shocks but shopping around im kinda on a tight budget just getting married and house shopping so it tough at the moment.
I had a ducati monster then a cbr600rr before getting my sportster i know what you mean by selling itbefore you got into trouble. Half the reason i got rid of those bikes is its too temping to go fast. I was gonna get myself Arrested or killed
