Default Shifter Peg Removal - help

What is the easiest way to remove and replace the shifter peg.

I have the stock rubber peg mount on my forward controls and was replacing with an Avon peg that is slightly larger.

Don't really want to cut the rubber off the original.

Any tips would be appreciated.

The whole shifter peg comes off with an allen key. Not sure what you're trying to do...

There's a nut that threads onto the shifter bolt, mine was Red loctited on, so I had to snap the peg bolt. Could have used heat, but I didn't know that at the time. Live and learn.

Oh lord, don't cut it off. There is a bolt at the end of three peg that unscrews and holds the peg on. The whole process of taking the old peg off and new one on should take you less than 5 minutes.

I just removed a stock rubber one the other day. It was an older one with no allen key on the end. I used vice grips on the rubber, came off very easy and no damage to the shifter peg.

Thanks,

No allen key or nut holding it on.

Its just a straight screw in.

Just tried a very large pair of Snap On channel lock pliers and no go before ripping the rubber off.

Will remove the rubber and try again later tonight.

Hmmm, I only thought that **** happen to me! I would maybe try a propane/butane torch on backside where the threads are. If there is red on there it should come off with not much heat. Good Luck
