Cape Coral came through the storm with spotty damage, SW section of the Cape hit the hardest. Lots of tree damage from the wind. Power is back on in most sections. A few still without thought. Personally we did fine. Someone was watching over us.
Ft Myers was hit hard along the river. Ft. Myers Beach was also damaged. Mostly wind damage, trees power lines. Storm surge was maybe 3 feet.
When you go south along the west coast the damage gets worse. Estero, Bonita Springs have a lot of flooding still in areas, Naples sustained some serious damage. Everglades City was pounded hard. Then the Keys.......devastation.
I was in Publix earlier today and was amazed on how much stuff is still missing. The empty shelves.
Later in the day I went to Walmart and that to my mind as well and even more so. Shelves after shelves were just empty. And in many areas the pickings were very slim.
I understand there also quite a few homes still without power even though thousands and thousands (27,000 I understand) people came in from 38 other states to help out. This is not a complaint. I am still very impressed on how fast people are up and running.
I have always been bewildered on how there can be many thousands of items in the grocery store. And a huge selection of the type of coffee you may want, beans, peas, etc. we are so freaking spoiled.
