Default 12V power supply install=disaster

I went to the HD dealer with my gift cards from christmas to buy some goodies, since they were having a customer appreciation weekend. In my travels of the store I came across a 12V power supply (made by harley) for $19.95. Since I have bluetooth in my helmet, I thought this would be a great install to keep my phone charged. Well, I followed all the directions, and it works and looks good. Then I cocked my head and said...what about the seat. Yep, the seat covers the whole damn thing. Now, I have a side cover with a 7/8" hole and a power supply I can only use when the seats off...I have some pics, because i thought this was going to be a nice add on for a road king. I will post them after my temper goes down and I figure how to fix this.

Well at least you didn't have SoFla try to use his knife to cut that 7/8" hole. I guess I wouldn't sleep at night until I ordered a replacement side-cover.

But since the seat covers the hole, maybe you can mess with bondo (et al) to try and patch and paint that hole. Always good skills to have. (trying to find a brighter side to this).

Best of luck.

Use the Army method to fix it, drill a hole through the seat and duct tape it in the seat, call it a day.

When I read the title I thought the install was going to end in an electrical fire. Now that would be a disaster!!!

You are correct sir. At the time, having a 7/8" hole was making as mad as if it did go on fire. With my tallboy seat, I have access to 90% of the outlet. I can squeeze some adaters in there...I can make it work. So, I over-reacted like a drama queen...
