Hey guys, I used to be a member here...bike was wrecked. Now I'm on the prowl for a new bike!
So I'm looking at a 2003 FLHRPI, 30,000 miles, bike has been completely converted from a PI to a RI. Tons of chrome/aftermarket on her, she is a very clean bike. Also a nice custom 2 tone paint job on it.
The issues, brakes need to be done, and I noticed a spot of oil that looks like it's coming off of the head gasket.
Knowing those issues - KBB lists it at 7500, he's down to 9000, knowing he has a ton of $$ in extras (which you never get back him and I are aware! lol) but also the brakes and the oil leak...for the FL area what do you guys think of the $9K price tag on it?
I appreciate the help, as I said I used to be a member here, and look forward to getting back on the 2 wheels and enjoying life cage free again!
Sounds a bit high to me. Check these out. For a little more money and with a little more mileage you can get a bike that is 8 years newer. The first one only has 5000 more miles than what you are looking at already.

So knowing the extra's have "no value", needing brakes, and head gasket, he still wants 1,500 over book? I think you answered your own question.
With the dealer's telling us all the time the extras have "no value".... I took what I could off my trade in 2011 limited. What fit on my 2014 went on it, the rest I sold. Still left a few thousand in extras I couldn't take off.
I just bought a 2006 Road King Custom, K&N 2into1 pro pipe, screaming eagle air intake, stage 1 map from Harley, with 17k miles for $9400. Its in my signature pic. It's not perfect but I think you can do better.
You can beat that price if you shop. Here in S. Fla you can get a more or less stock 03-05 RK Police edition with similar miles for around $7k if you keep your eyes peeled. I don't know the Jacksonville market, and I suspect S. Fla has lower prices, but you could keep your eyes on S FL Craigslist and drive down and pick it up.
Now that said, if you assume $7k is the going price for a more or less stock bike, if the bike you are looking at has $2k in mods you'd like to do anyway, then it's worth giving it some thought. Brakes are easy to DIY and cheap. Seems odd to me a head gasket would be leaking oil...might want to check that more closely, a more common leak would be the breather port from the rocker boxes to the air cleaner.
