it started with the medieval knight that wore the same arms coat used to wave to one another. I only wave if I know the person, and yes 1% er do wave if they know you. I believe the three finger wave was used when waving to 3 wheelers and trikes.
I do wave to be friendly (all on 2 wheels included) but what is the rule for a group comin' at ya? It feels kinda goofy sticking your hand out for 10-15 bikes.
I guess I could just ask my wife to take over when my arm gets tired.

I feel pretty compelled to wave also, simply from having done it for so long. But now there are times when I don't, like the controls thing and some times don't on a divided highway.
