My 2 cents worth (which is only worth 2 cents) is: A small amount of money isn't worth risking one's own life, and even more, killing someone over. I can't think of any reason, other than a threat of serious injury or death to myself, my loved ones, or innocent bystanders, that would justify killing a robber in a public situation like this. Of course we can't say that the CHL holder's life was or was not in jeapardy, but the issuance of a CHL doesn't come with the license to kill, only the justification to shoot in the event of imminent danger situations like I've mentioned. Considering how the judicial system works and how the anti gun media sensationalizes events like this I'd be surprised if the Dade County DA doesn't pursue a conviction for the CHL holder and Burger King Corporation doesn't end up filing a civil action against him. The harsh reality is that the cost of firing his weapon in this particular situation is going to cost the CHL holder and enormous amount of money in defense fees. Hopefully he gave that a moment of consideration before he fired his first twenty thousand dollar bullet.

Here are some of the Q&As extracted from the Florida CWP info webpage:
<link> http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/wea...f_defense.html

Q. When can I use my handgun to protect myself?
A. Florida law justifies use of deadly force when you are:
Trying to protect yourself or another person from death or serious bodily harm;
Trying to prevent a forcible felony, such as rape, robbery, burglary or kidnapping.
Using or displaying a handgun in any other circumstances could result in your conviction for crimes such as improper exhibition of a firearm, manslaughter, or worse.

Q. When can I use deadly force in the defense of another person?
A. If you see someone who is being attacked, you can use deadly force to defend him/her if the circumstances would justify that person's use of deadly force in his/her own defense. In other words, you "stand in the shoes" of the person being attacked.

Q. What if I see a crime being committed?
A. A license to carry a concealed weapon does not make you a free-lance policeman. But, as stated earlier, deadly force is justified if you are trying to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony. The use of deadly force must be absolutely necessary to prevent the crime. Also, if the criminal runs away, you cannot use deadly force to stop him, because you would no longer be "preventing" a crime. If use of deadly force is not necessary, or you use deadly force after the crime has stopped, you could be convicted of manslaughter.

In Texas those scenarios must be "aggrivated".

Ok, an ARMED man WEARING A SKI MASK IN FLORIDA...walks into a restaurant and starts to rob the clerk.......if I have a weapon...he is getting shot right frickin NOW. I would not allow him to carry out the real death threat he has made towards the clerk and anyone in the restaurant. Waiting for him to start shooting is ridiculous.

Can't judge the situation because I wasn't there.

My question is how many of you have ever had to use a firearm in self defense? I have and I can tell you it ain't nothing like TV or shooting paper at the local range.

The robber is dead. A Good Thing®. This way, with the bad guy being dead, he won't be able to have other victims to terrorize. Plain and simple. The puzzies who whine and cry over the robber should be taken out back and beaten until common sense returns to their puny, libtarded brains. Or, just set them loose in GP in a kkkalifornicate jail for a week and see how they like being the ones terrorized. It's so easy for those libtards who've never had to fight or had a gun shoved in their face to tell others what they *should have or should* do! I say to you libtards...Quit breeding! Please! Go take a job in a factory as the plastic bag tester (you know, to make sure the warning on them is true).
