Oh well, it was nice while it lasted. The wife and I took a long scoot last Sunday thru Sandy Hook, down along the shore, thru Rumsen to Schrewsbury and back up the Parkway to Edison. Temps were hot enough to go sans jacket, and with short sleeves the ride was comfortable. But alas, I've been doning the jacket more and more each day on the way into and of recent on the way home from work. This morning I actually layered up, wore my 3/4 and put on the lined gloves. Here comes the fall and with it the cooler temps.
This has been a good, long, hot and dry riding season this year in Jersey. I only "parked" the bike for a couple of weeks this past winter. As good as it feels to be out in the crisp fall like air I will be missing the heat. I have reloaded the bike with my 3 jacket assortment and am ready for whatever temps mother nature will throw at me. Once the wife feels a chill, she'll be done but I'll keep going till weather hits or temps drop much below 30. Even with the Gerbings setup (for those who have never tried it you don't know what you're missing) much below 30 and my desire feigns.
There will probably be a few more jacketless, short sleeve days yet but they will be short lived as fall makes its' entrance. As winter approaches, our numbers on the road will dwindle. For those of us who will be left, we pretty much know each other by sight. We don't "wave" much at each other and once it approaches freezing we even stop grinning (damn teeth freeze).
I have 3 jackets, leather, waist cut synthetic w/liner; and a tour master w/liner for when it really gets cold........I plan on running til it snows.....and again when it's plowed an clear.
Had to break out the jacket the past couple of mornings. Will ride until it snows, then probably on a few winter days when there is no salt on the roads. My bike was only up for about a month last winter since it was so mild. The predictions are that we won't be as lucky this year. As you said, below 35 (for me) it's just not fun. Still plenty of riding left though.
It's still in the low 90s high 80s here. Had a couple days is the 70s but it was just raining all day. Still got a couple months of the best riding weather down here in TX

Guess it's jacket time!
This year, the coming of September happened way to soon, and Spring was long in arriving.
I don't look forward to short days, less sunshine, cold and the white stuff, and seasonal tire change to address the fallen white. I avoid the S word.
If I could live in AZ for 6 months and be a s....bird I would.
