Just email him - I did and he sent me a picture of the fairing on his bike - it looks like he did it right. The picture didn't show the back so we'll have to trust him that he made the gauges fit. My guess is the reason to do all this work is to gain the air duct in the fairing. Joe
and a doubledin head unit
and better placement of gauges
and customizing his bike to his own needs/desires
and bragging rights that he did it himself
Not to judge unless you have attempted the project. The earlier gauges fit well. The small gauges use the 2014 mounts and the larger gauges require a retainer bracket to be fabricated. Just a piece of plastic with two holes. Using the stock gauges will also utilize the original wiring. Very easy project that I will outline at a later time. The original poster sent me pictures as well. I am attaching some pics of mine. The last pic is using the 2014 gauge housing with the earlier gauge workings and a custom face.

I hope this helps all that inquired. And for those that want to know why, it is because I wanted in in-dash solution for the Garmin 590LM Nav. It fits nicely inside the large radio space that the 2014 dash provides.
For a head unit I use my phone and stream through the Garmin unit. The addition engine information is provided by a Power Vision fabricated into the left radio speaker location. Both the Power Vision and the Garmin are water resistant.

ah ok.. was just wondering if a full double-din unit would fit in there some kind of way.. been kicking around the Camtech inner fairing but haven't decided yet.
The dimensions of the opening are large enough for a double din but the top of the triple trees leave only enough room for a single din. There are water resistant radios that can be installed but I never found any name brands with navigation.
Kenwood double din units utilize the same Garmin software/firmware as the garmin devices do.. that's what appeals to me. NAV and TBT directions over-riding audio
We have a 07 328i vert. It had the stock radio and I wanted NAV in the car. The popular choice is the Dynavin D99 unit. It is rather similar to the Harley unit. Double DIN face/touchscreen but single din chassis. Doubtful on the waterproof part. They make it in a Android and Windows based unit.
