I've got a Diamondback trailer that is a tilt-up style trailer.

I bought it to haul my Honda ST1300. After selling the ST I bought a 2012 Goldwing. Hauled it to Cody, WY for a week of riding in that area. The trailer uses a torsion suspension and I felt that the Goldwing really pressed the upper limit of its capability.

(That's not me BTW - found that video on YouTube)

A month ago I hauled my 2014 Ultra Limited to Deadwood, SD on the same trailer. Much as with the Goldwing, the Ultra seems to be right at the upper limit of what the suspension can really handle. Looking in the mirror, the bike/trailer seemed more active than I would have liked. The bike was solidly tied down. The movement I was seeing was the entire trailer rocking, as the suspension was at its max. I also had to remove the back section of the wheel chock, as it contacted my fender skirt. In fact, the chock was precariously close to the brake rotors too. Never had that problem with the smaller ST.

Bottom line: I think this is a really good alternative for a mid-sized bike, perhaps even up to a Road King. But, I likely won't be trailering my Ultra on it again.

Steve

I use a single axle continental cargo trailer roughly 7 ft X 13 ft. Can use it as a garage and 101 other handy uses. When I retire the plan is to travel a bit with truck camper, find a nice area, camp and tour around on the bike. Tenting has zero appeal and hotels are too $$$$. This is easy to load as the back end is a ramp, bolt in a wheel chock system, drive in tie down no problem. 2nd hand these trailers are quite inexpensive. Pull real easy.

I have a trailer very similar to this and it makes a great camper when you get to your destination!

yeah, and there's more than a couple of reasons why someone may want to tow their bike to the destination.

i would love to have an enclosed trailer, add a few bits to it and make it a toy hauler/camper so that i had a 'base camp' set up somewhere. the problem is that by the time you add all the weight of that stuff, plus the weight of the trailer, plus the weight of 2 full size touring bikes, it outclasses my truck. the droptail trailers plus the weight of the 2 bikes, is still well within the towing capabilities of my truck so i wouldn't have to buy a new truck as well......

I know that I am late to this party... but I just ordered a RampFree trailer in Ft. Myers sight unseen. I'm near Ft. Lauderdale about 150 miles away. Last week they had 3, a single, a single heavy duty, a double. When I called them this week they had sold the singe and the double last weekend. So I put a deposit on the heavy duty one. I'm picking it up on Saturday.

I would have bought he regular duty single (200.00 less than heavy duty) had it been available. But after talking to a second salesman and ready the comments above I'm glad only the HD one was available. It is 6 inches wide that the RD one and has better foot placement for my 2014 Harley Limited. They call it the gold wing version as it is for heavier bikes.

I was going to ride my Harley to Ft. Myers to test it with my bike and have my girlfriend follow in my SUV. But she had other commitments so I figured I am 99.9999 percent sure Im getting it so what the hell. I've seen enough video to know it works for my bike.

I just received a Rampfree single place. It is well constructed and INCREDIBLY easy to load and unload. Lifting it and moving it with the bike loaded is very easy due to weight distribution over the axle. I store it in the garage with the bike on it...saves a lot of space. I love the trailer.

The cost for the trailer with radial tires and spare, delivered to Key West and including tax was $2400.

Having said all that, if you decide to buy one of these I recommend you do as SoFla did...buy a unit that is IN STOCK from a dealer. I ordered mine direct from Rampfree (Deerfield Beach, FL) and although it was cheaper than from a dealer the process was long and painful! It was 4 months from the time of order until delivery and messages left with the company both by phone and email were only sporadically returned.
