I noticed one of my running lamps was out today (2009 FLHR) and I went online to order a new one. The part number for BULB ONLY is 68453-05.
I checked both Surdyke and Kutter, and I get PART NOT FOUND when I key in that number. It looks like I have to buy Auxiliary Lamp Bulb Kit-68348-05 which includes two lamp assemblies for $58.00.
I really don't want to pay $58 to get a lamp working again. Can anyone tell me if there is another number for the bulb only, or is my only choice to buy the "kit".
Get an h3 55W bulb from the auto parts store ($3 or so) and peel rubber backing off the passing lamp and repalce the bulb. Harley only sells the new bulb inside the housing already and tells you that it cannot be removed. However it can be removed and replaced. I think the Harley bulbs are 35W so the 55 is a bit brighter.
One of my passing lamps went out, it wasn't the bulb. The ground wire broke of the ring terminal that is fastened with one of the chrome rivets that mount the housing to the mtg. bracket. Need to replace the housing and wiring to fix. I tinned the ring terminal and wire, and soldered back together. Poor design to get you to buy another light.
