Default Reduced heat with THUNDERMAX???

Just wanted to know before I make the purchase from guys who have it, is the heat noticeably reduced after installing the Thundermax with auto on your 07? Approx degrees?

According to Zippers it is but I wanted to hear your opinions also.

After much debate and advice from members I chose this over the SERT.

Good choice over the SERT. Can't tell you about heat though as I haven't installed one yet, but will be ordering mine Friday.

The Tmax will reduce heat as good as any other fuel management system with the proper map and tweaks. In theory it should be better because it has more tuning points.
There are only 3 maps for a 96" motor with rinehart true duals; 241, 351 and 384.
I have an '07 Ultra with a Doherty Power Pacc intake, Bassani Power Curve headpipes and Screamin' Eagle Touring mufflers. I sarted with map 351. The bike had some decel pop and minor detonation. I did not try to alter the map because Zippers came out with an improved map in the 370, bike ran better and I got braver and started tweaking the map by richening up the bottom end (to cure the decel pop) and pulling some timing out in the 2300 rpm to 4600 range (-1 to -2 degrees) to get rid of the "pinging". My bike ran great. I then downloaded the latest update to the base maps and I see that base map 370 is no longer listed. They have 384 as the latest map so I assume it's an improved 370. Upon inspecting the fuel tables I see that this map is almost identical to the map that I ended up with after my tweaks. I was so proud of myself. WARNING-my bike ran like total CRAP after I installed the 384 map, it ran like it was on 1 1/2 cylinders. I don't understand this because like I stated, the fuel tables were almost identical to my alterd map. I will be contacting Zippers with my results.
Back to your original question; Yes, it will noticeably reduce the heat that you feel.

Avacado great info thanks man.

Hope I dont have that many issues. I emailed Zips and asked them which map they will be loading. Pete had already told me they did not have an exact map for my Wimmer Dual Runner intake and Rinehart TD's but would get it as close as possible.

Questions for ya:
If its self adjusting why not just drive it a bit more and wait for it to self adjust and rid itself of the decel pops etc?
Can the bike be dynoed with the Tmax on it?

Thanks

Heat will be reduced with any device that correctly retunes the fuel mixture to a richer level. Any device From the 189.00 fuel pack to the tmax will do this if set correctly.

I dont really understand how it is any different than a PC111 or sert. Where is the autotune capabilitys? They need a little more real world action before I would buy one.

Difference is it uses their 02 sensors and a closed loop system to tune and retune as needed, pcIII and others just run a fixed set of values.

Yes, the bike can be dyno tuned with the Tmax. Zippers does not have anyone in your area though.

The autotune will make adjustments to injector pulse widths by information gathered from the o2 sensors.

Example; if your base map calls for an a/f ratio of 12.095:1 @ 3584 rpm with 65.795 degrees of throttle position, the autotune will either extend or shorten pulse width to bring your present afr towards that predetermined 12.095:1 afr. Within reason, 20% by default, 5% per riding session x 4 sessions.

Some popping will diminish by the autotune as long as your base map is set to give enough fuel at the rpm that has the problem.

I did not want to give you the impression that I was having a major problem with the unit. It was just that particular 384 map. I just put my modified 370 back in and everything is fine.

I have since received an email back from Zippers about what the difference would be (370 vs.384) and was told that it's probably the timing.

Did you guys give Zippers information about your bikes before purchasing the unit? I'm waiting for delivery ona T-Max that I ordered through M&M Cycles but nobody asked me anything about my bike or which aftermarket gear I'm running on it. For some reason I thought EVERY different ThunderMax map was included on a CD or something. If not, how the hell am I supposed to taylor the thing to my bike?
