Default Allen size for floorboard bolt

I have a 2008 street glide... Trying to remove the floorboards to put new Rinehart exhaust on. Does anyone know the size of the allen head bolt that holds the bracket to the frame?? all of mine are to small and I need to know what size to buy. Thanks for the help

It happens. I spent at least 10 pissed off minutes trying and retrying my allens when I was removing the front caliper. I never would have thought that it would have been metric....

Nothing can replace a set of standard Allen wrenches...but something to consider...as long as you are buying tools...is a set of Allen T-wrenches...VERY handy and you can get a surprising amount of torque out of them. Also you will find a set of stubby Allens to be handy as well.

Up through 2008 the SHCS holding on the footboards are 1/2-13 and take a 3/8 allen wrench. With 2009 and later the SHCS were changed to 3/8-16 which take a 5/16 allen wrench. OP, you take a 3/8 allen.

If you do any work on a Harley, no matter how much, you need standard and metric tools. Some tools you even have to make. Can't remember exactly what for but needed an allen that just wouldn't fit where I needed it so had to cut it off near the elbow leaving less than 1/2" of actual usable tool. This was off the short end of course.

If you ever have to take off an intake (at the head) you'll need to cut down a 1/4" allen wrench, a bend in it helps as well. I'm taking a stab that this is what you were doing when you had to cut one down?
