2010 Road King Electrical Problem
About 2 weeks ago I was riding & suddenly noticed a loss of power but before I could pull the clutch, the engine caught again & off I went.
A week ago, I managed to get out & did some local riding. The power cut out again, this time, I pulled the clutch & released it, the engine caught & I continued on until it happened again just a few miles down the road. This time I had to pull off the road, but when I re-engaged the clutch, the engine started.
It cutout about 3 more times, each time more frequently than the last. I haven't' been able to remove the seat as my duties as Santa are very engaged right now.
My thinking is that there may be either corrosion, a frayed wire, a loose connection....or at worst, a failing ECM.
Your thoughts????
One more thing, my King had been garage or storage kept until this past February. It's been exposed to the weather, tho' I've tried to keep a plastic shroud on it as much as possible. I'm sure moisture has gotten into the areas that wouldn't have while it was in the garage or storage. I no longer have the luxury of parking in a garage.
The loss of power includes...the engine stopping, all electrical going dark, the speedometer dropping to zero.
you want a cover that breathes so moisture can evaporate out.
plastic will hold water, gas fumes and hydrogen gas to your bike.
you'll have to examine the simple stuff which is likely.
failing ECM is unlikely.
we get 43 posts a day about bad batteries...about 2 a year about bad ecms.
so pull the seat, pull the battery, charge it with a charger and load test for free at autozone.
while it is out examine the wiring...probably a poor cable connection

On my last bike (2000 Ultra) I had similar issues and it turned out to be a defective "kill switch".
Once you have checked your battery and cables you should check your owner's manual and do a check on your bike to see if it will "code" and electrical errors.
