Default Ultra Limited Shopping

I am shopping around for a new 2015 Ultra Limited or a 2014 model if I can get the right price on it. If you bought one recently, what did you pay for it, incentives etc... ? My experience is that dealers will not come off msrp on 2015 models, but deals can be had on the 2014's. I would appreciate the information. Thanks!

Not sure if this will assist you, but I came extremely close to purchasing a 2015 Ultra Limited. MSRP with 2-tone paint was $25,699. Of course without freight, doc fees, tag etc. and in Florida we have that wonderful "dealer fee" of $500 over & above all other costs. My sales guy told me they could discount $2-2.5K max off that price if I was serious. Not sure why. But they could offer a better discount on the Ultra Limited than what I ended up with, that being a 2015 Street Glide Special. I was told the Street Glide Special is the hottest selling Harley at this time so there wasn't as much room for movement in price. My out the door price for that was $24k even. Of course I love my SGS, and if you add a tour pack it's practically the same bike. Both ride great. I couldn't tell much difference between the two. just what suits your taste in the model you choose. Good luck. The 2014's had zero% financing for up to 72 mos. Not sure if that's the case right now though being so late in the year...

Default Shop around

Just some FYI. Not all dealers price there bikes at msrp. Some price ABOVE. Shop around. Call diff dealers in your area. My home town dealer charges +1. Which is $1000 over msrp. Some dealers will give you pricing without any BS. Some wont give you pricing unless you sit down with a sales guy and talk figures on paper. Find out who has what you are looking for around you. Armed with information you will get alot farther faster. Good luck

How much you got?

Cash in hand w/ no trade gets the best price- and an uncomplicated deal.

2nd choice bring your own financing

dealer financing and trades offer more opportunities for the dealer to make on the deal- doesn;t mean they'll drop the selling price.

finddealercost.com

may be of help to you.

don't overlook the used market, some buyers buy & freak out and either throw the bike in the garage to be a queen or sell it.

AZ for example has no sales tax on private party sales of used vehicles- which for us is a 9% saving right there.

I got $1000 off msrp, no freight or setup charge, hwy mounts/pegs & colored saddlebag filler strips thrown in, on a '15 Ultra Limited. Cash down payment. Bought the bike off the floor. I'm happy....

At 24k on a sgs and a tour pack add of $2500.00 you're at 26.5k and you still don't have Daymaker h/l, aux lights, lower fairings, luggage rack, luggage, cb, communications, heated grips, 4 speakers, or twin cooling and a lil more hp and torque. I can sure see a difference.

OP. I bought my 14 Limited in August right before the new ones were coming. I got $3500.00 off, 23.5k plus sales tax at 5% and doc fee. I don't know if that really helps, every dealer and every town is different. Good luck with your search. Do your homework, you will surely be happy you did.

Cash in hand isn't any more attractive than financing.
Dealers make money on loans they write, so this is better to them than a cash sale.
With outside financing, the dealer gets paid quickly enough, so really no advantage to paying cash.
Customer saves on carrying charges, but dealers don't care how they get paid.

After some discussion with the dealer, we agreed on a unit price of $23.5K for my '15 FLHTK. California sales tax is pretty stiff (no getting around it). I had a decent chunk of cash to put down but don't know if that made any difference in the negotiated price. I also had a pre-approved loan from the bank which HD Financial actually beat by .9% so my monthly payment came down with the same term. I also don't think that had much to do with the unit price.
I think the biggest negotiating tool I had was I had shopped around, knew what the other dealers in the area had in their inventory and knew what the value of the bike was. The guys I worked with didn't try a hard sale but they also knew I already had another bike and was willing to walk away if we couldn't come to a mutual compromise.
In the end, I think I got treated well and got a good deal on a new bike and they made a profit. Be sure to shop around. Dealers have different prices and policies for the same units. Most of all, don't be afraid to walk away even if you've invested a few hours with the salesman. Ultimately, they want to move a unit out the door with a profit. You want a good deal. If you walk away, leave them your phone number. You might get a call with more compromise on their end just to make the deal.
When they wouldn't budge on coming down $500 more dollars (I had about three hours invested with them at this point), I thanked the salesman for his time, shook his hand, grabbed my helmet, and told him I was headed over to one of the other local dealers. I told him if he could get to my numbers before I closed the deal across the valley, he should give me a call and I'd come back. I didn't get off the property before the $500 came off the unit price.
Good luck. Looking forward to seeing your pictures posted soon.
Cheers!
Rusty

According to HD web page, MSRP on a 2 tone Limited is 27,149, so 25,699 would be a good price. Solid black lists for 26,000.

When I totaled my 2012 Limited, my dealer offered me a two tone 2015 Limited for 26,000 with no dealer fees or setup, just tax title and license. I shopped some other dealers in the area and they would not come close to that price.

Had I been you, I would have taken the deal and skipped the SG. There is no comparison in value. You just get too much extra for the 1,699 difference.

Gunner E.

You got a good deal on your purchase. Is it colored, two tone, or black?

To the OP: I seem to be seeing quite a few new 2014's on showroom floors, and winter is here. You might make a real deal on a 14 if you can find one you like.
