Just found out that I need a new hip joint at the age of 44. Need to hear feedback from people that still ride after hip replacement. Wife is worried that our riding days are over. FT

My wife has had both of her hips replaced, one at a time. She rides a Road Glide. Took her about 3 months before she got back on it, both times. She has done 500+ mile days and only complains about her butt getting sore
Best advice....... get in shape now, if you're not already in shape. It will speed up the recovery time.

Have a friend that got a new hip at 48. Has raced the vintage class on a CZ in several Virginia City Grand Prix's since then. And I can tell you. That race is brutal on a modern dirt bike.
Thanks, your reply made my wife feel a lot better. We started riding about 4 years ago thinking we would be able to have fun with it for many years. This hip has thrown us for a loop. FT
I had a double hip replacement at 46. once you recover there aren't any issues riding. Mine were done the old way through big incisions on my sides. The new way is through the front. The recovery time and surgical pain is cut in half.
First complete hip replacement at age 39 then same hip redone 19 years later at age 58.Now at age 70 I am still riding a Harley RK and a Triumph Bonneville. You should not have a problem after recovery and rebuilding the leg muscles.
My riding buddy had both done (at different times) a couple years ago. He has not had any issues. We did a Colorado ride in June and he rode 980 miles in one day to get to our meeting point. Not even sore.
had my left one replaced two years ago, rode my bike five weeks later, but most likely shouldn't have. was still alittle weak on that side. best thing i've ever done was get that hip replaced. new hill to climb for me now, crashed my bike last sept. and lost my left leg above the knee, same side as my hip replacement and it hung in there. don't fear it,just do what the doc wants you to.
Had my right hip replaced a year and half ago at 48. Doc said 3 months before riding, but I was riding it to physical therapy 4 weeks after surgery. Just follow the docs orders and don't skip physical therapy. Most of rehab consists of lots of walks with your honey.
