Help installing rubber grommets into saddlebags

Default Help installing rubber grommets into saddlebags
Okay this feels like a rookie question lol. Ive done it before but have that point of frustration this time. Any tips on how to more easily get the rubber grommets into the saddlebag bottom where the mount pins pass thru? Its really pissin me off, had to walk away.

dish soap

I use lighter fluid- it lubes than evaporates.

for handlebar grips, hairspray works well, lubes when wet, then gets sticky...or lighter fluid.

The long rubber stem is pretty resilient and you can pull on it to get the whole plug through the hole from the inside of the bag. Lube it first as noted in MK's post.

no , the astroglide doesn't dry, so the parts can slide back out, then when you try to get it in fast you can go in the other hole

run a pot of water through a coffee pot, then soak it in the hot water; makes the rubber much more pliable

Try spit, its free and works for lubing a lot of different things.

I used washing-up liquid on mine not so long ago. Wipe off the surplus once installed and the rest dries off.

wrap a piece of cord around the grommet use that to pull the lip through kinda like doin old car windows that used the rubber.
