Brand new to the site, thanks for the add. My question is about identifying a motor. I bought a motor from a guy who said that it came from a 2010 harley fltri. Motor appears to be in excellent shape. How can i tell exactly which bike it came off of so i can purchase a repair manual? Thanks in advance.
There was no FLTRI in 2010, The I designation stopped when ALL Harleys were fuel injected about 2007. The motor itself should have a number on it. MoCo could help. Other than than, the Twin cam motors looked pretty much alike outside.
AZ runs a reported theft website, try running the vin- if it comes up dirty- call the cops right away and see if you can get you rmoney back...or some of it
( otherwise YOU can have your bike impounded someday)
I really appreciate the advice fellas. I was told by harley that all 96 cubic inch motors were the same but i looked at my 2009 rocker with a 96 and it has external oil tank and lines. New motor does not.i will get numbers from paperwork tomorrow. I have bill of sale notarized. Thanks again from louisiana

There is a difference between the A and B engines. For one, the B (balanced) engine has the external oil lines and oil tank.
