I passed on a bike with a painted inner- the sun glare was murderous.
I would a been a baked potato on a long ride North like to Sturgis
flat black works better for me.
maybe i am over sensitive- I sometimes flip my gas filler cover open to reduce glare off the chrome, I don;t have chrome rings around my gauges or radio
On my '07 Ultra, which was two tone pewter and black cherry, I had the inner fairing painted in the main colour of the bike, black cherry. It was a great improvement to the overall look of the bike and certainly was one of the best changes I made to the bike. In looking back, the only regret I have is that I did not go with a two tone combination of black cherry and pewter to match the colours on the bike. Having seen several painted fairings using the two tone I was impressed with how much better they looked. It gives a more sophisticated and finished look to the bike. If I had the chance to do it over I would go with the two tone look.
It's on my list for the '14.
After it was all said and done, I think the green on the inner fairing its just a tad bit darker than what is on the outer fairing. I don't really have any regrets but if I was doing it again, I might take the outer fairing in with it and maybe incorporate the pin stripe. I took in one of the side covers instead.. I replaced the inner fairing because the plastic was cracked around the windshield mount inserts.
I was curious if there are any down sides/Regrets to getting the inner fairing painted?
This is 1 mod I really want to get done
Seen many that look great. I saw one the exact color as mine - Dark Turquoise and Antique White, literally painted the same - two tone, pin stripes and all. The guy was so proud, his $$$, so I just walked off - it was hideous.
