I picked up a used engine guard on eBay for my 2012 RKC. I bought it from a reputable HD eBay store and the ad said it came off a 2012 RKC.
I tried to install last night, but am having a real time getting the tab on the top of the bar to slide into the slot on the frame. Seems as though it is too wide?
Is there a trick to making this work? The frame holes lineup, but I just cannot get the tab to slide in. I have tried at an angle etc...
Any tips or tricks or was I sold a guard that does not fit my bike?
Yes - I have the manual :-) The issue I was facing was that the tab did not fit into the slot at the top of the frame. I spoke to the guy I bought it from 2 times and he said "it came off my 2012 FLHRC" so, naturally, I thought I was doing something wrong. I then called my dealer and had him measure the tab at the top of a new guard for a 2012 and guess what????? The tab is 1" wide. The one that this guy sold me is 1 5/8" wide! The slot is 1 3/8" wide. I let the seller know because clearly this was never on a FLHRC 2012. Standup guy though - he immediately refunded my money and said "keep the guard because the cost to get it back is not worth it".
Thought I had the right part, did not hence my confusion.

Glad you figured it out - despite the innuendo that you are a knuckle dragger, the guard was actually the problem... so are you going to make the tab smaller?

I did not mean for my post to sound that way, sometime starting at the correct end does make a difference.
