Exclamation Question???

I have a 2009 FLHTCU and wondering what type of seal is at the shifter shaft, behind the inner primary? I realize i have to take off the outer and inner primary, all the inerds of course, but just want to know what type of seal. Any help will do.

It's just a little baby seal.

You do not have to take the shaft out. Cover the splines of the shaft before sliding the new seal over it.

It pays to have a shop manual, then you don't have to ask.

Just replaced mine on my 2003. To remove old seal I drilled small hole in the old seal and installed a screw with the sharp end ground off and a wide shoulder on it being careful not to go to deep. I then used a door panel removal tool and a block of wood behind it to pry the old seal out. Then use proper size deep socket and install new seal. Make sure to Loctite shifter arm bolt when reinstalling. Mine had come loose and wore and would not tighten up. Replaced arm with a Baker truss style shift arm. Nice quality piece.
