Default Average oil temp?

Just wondering what is the average oil temp for a touring bike? Thanks in advance. I know mine runs hotter than friends stock 103. I have FM 107, level B heads, 777 cams. Just installed a Jagg 10 row fan assisted cooler so don't know how much that will lower the temp until I can get it on the road.

There are a lot of different things that can affect the oil temperature of your touring bike. Such things as model, ambient air temperature and riding style are a few. I think I remember reading a few years ago that the MOCO says 230 degrees was "normal" operating temperature. I know from personal experience that can vary considerably depending on the previously mentioned items. For example, if you are riding at 25 mph in downtown bumper to bumper traffic and the temperature is 95 degrees outside, your oil temperature is going to be much higher than if you were out on the highway cruising at 70 mph on the same day.

I thought it was around that temp for an average "normal" temp. I do realize the other factors can dramatically change the temp, just looking to see what others are seeing for their bikes. Thanks

my 03 with no cooler or fan with cams and a tuner runs 230 ish, give or take.

I have not gotten the gauge installed on the 13 yet, but even with the cooler I bet the stage 4 103 is going to be hard on oil temp

I don't know as the 14 Limited does not have a oil temp reading. My Heritage 88TC has a gauge and stays around 205 +-

I'll be interested in what you are running for oil temp and head temp?

I have just had FM install and 107" Big Bore very similar to yours. 777s, Level B heads, etc. However it is still winter here in Massachusetts so I'm not riding it yet. With my stage 1 previous to the build I alwats ran between 200'F and 230'F on the oil, and another 30'F engine temp on the PowerVision for Engine Temp. Do you have a PowerVision mounted? You can monitor the engine temp with that device nicely.

What are you measuring the oil temp with. I have an oil temp guage mounted in the dash. Pretty accurate.

edit: I should also mention I am currently running the Jagg Deluxe 5 row cooler but thinking of changing ut to the 10 row cooler/with fan if needed.

So many variables here.

I'll assume you're speaking about summer and relate my experience.

'09 RKC running synthetic with Stage 1. I use a HD digital dipstick for temp.

During the summer, daily commute about 30 miles, some stop and go, my temps would be about 260° F by time I got home with an ambient temp of 95-100°.

I installed a Jagg 10 row low mount (no fan) and saw a consistent 20° decrease in temperatures.

Your mileage may vary but rest assured, you'll see some temp drops.

Do you just have a map installed or did you have it dynotuned? The oil cooler will drop the temps of the oil but that doesn't change how the bike runs. If you have too much timing or too little, too much fuel or too little, that is what is causing your bike to run hotter than your friends 103.

I am using a dip stick temp gauge that was recommended to me. http://jescustomaccents.com/product....&categoryId=29 . My temps were around 260 to 270 without the oil cooler. I am going to Arizona in 2 weeks then I will be able to tell you what it is at with the cooler.

It was dynotuned by Fuelmoto and I am very happy with the way it runs. I'm just always curious to learn more.
