Was heading up to Mackinaw City Monday afternoon and began having an issue with my front brake (10SG w/ABS) Hard to pull lever in, almost frozen at times it will still engage and slow the bike down eventually but something's definitely wrong. Took it by Zips HD in ******* yesterday and they could get the rear to bleed but the front wouldn't. They thought it was the ABS module but didn't have one in stock, as they've never had one go bad before. Anyone had this issue? It's not showing any trouble codes and ABS lite is off. It's a nearly $400 part, can the module be rebuilt instead?

I swear the dealers are required by HD to say that BS. My 08 ABS module has failed twice and the second time, it failed like yours, only mine completely froze the front lever. NO STOPPING AT ALL. NOT EVEN A SLOW DOWN. Just a rock hard brake lever. The ABS module is supposed to always fail in an open valve position so that the brakes will function like a non-ABS system. This is not the case with Harley's and they refuse to admit that there is a problem with their design. Do a search. There are quite a few posts on various forums about this type of failure. Yes, I'm sure there have been thousands that have failed "properly" but even one failure that renders the braking system completely inoperative is unacceptable.
The first time it failed, I let the stealer do the repair at a cost of over a thousand dollars. Not this time. I found a used module out of a wrecked Road Glide for $100 shipped on eBay and put it in myself in less than an hour. System works fine now.
Thanx for the response, I thought the brakes worked when the ABS failed too. They do but you better have a strong grip to do it. Now I'm wondering getting ABS on the wife's Deluxe was a good idea, she'd never be able the pull the front brake if it happens on her bike.
There have been a couple other posts here about it failing and could not use the front brake. I think in a couple cases, the OP got the abs pump off of ebay or something.
The part is $306 at Ronnies, I'd rather replace it with a new rather than buy one on EBAY not knowing if it's even good. I'm going to report it as a safety issue also.

I agree and would do the same thing regarding the purchase. The safety report is a good idea.
Mine went last year, same symptoms. Order a new one, replace it yourself, bleed the brakes best you can... Then bring it to a dealer or someone with the digital tech tool to get all the air out.
That's my plan, ordered part from Ronnies will install myself. Local dealer has express lane for some repairs they will power bleed them while I wait. The module for the new models with linked braking is almost $1300 for that part.
